Site work, paving, new construction and renovation of a mixed-use development in Des Moines, Iowa. Completed plans call for the construction of a 5,600-square-foot pre-engineered storage facility; for site work for a pre-engineered storage facility; water / sewer project; for the renovation of a transportation facility; for paving for a transportation facility; and transportation facility.
The Work generally consists of: 1. Building Footings and Slab-on-Grade 2. Site Structural Pads and Containment Walls 3. 5,600 SF Pre-Engineered Metal Building with additional Façade Requirements 4. Mechanical and Plumbing Construction 5. Building and Site Electrical 6. Water Main Installation 7. Subgrade and Granular Subbase Preparation 8. PCC Pavement 9. Site Utilities 10. Security Fencing 11. Traffic Control Work on the improvements shall be commenced any time after a written Notice to Proceed is issued and shall be completed as stated below. The Notice to Proceed will be issued after the preconstruction conference, which is expected to occur in March 2024. Each Bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful Bidder will enter into a Contract for the workbid upon and will furnish after the award of Contract corporate Surety Performance and Payment Bond(s), in a form acceptable to the Board, for the faithful performance of the Contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the Contract. The Bidder's security shall be in the amount of ten (10%) percent of the Bid and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a Bid Bond on the form provided in the Contract Documents with corporate Surety satisfactory to the Board. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Each successful Bidder will be required to furnish corporate Surety Bonds in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its Contract price. Said Bonds shall be issued by a responsible Surety approved by the Des Moines Airport Authority and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the Des Moines Airport Authority from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of two (2) years from and after acceptance of the Contract This project shall be fully completed no later than July 12, 2025, except that Phase 1 - Deicing Fluid Facility shall be completed no later than September 13, 2024. The Des Moines Airport Authority reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the Authority. The Engineer's opinion of probable construction cost for the Work is between $3,900,000 and $4,300,000. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
