Site work and paving for a civil project in Cambridge, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and water / sewer project.

The work includes all materials, equipment, transportation, and labor necessary to complete the improvements. This project consists of a Base Bid and Two (2) Bid Alternatives. The proposed Base Bid project includes 13,919.1 CY class 10 excavation, 305.6 CY of Class 10 Waste, 2937.9 CY of Topsoil Strip Salvage and Place, 51,1132.9 SY Subbase, Soil Aggregate Base,1240 LF of 6 Subdrain, 2 SW-512 intakes, 1,280 SY of 8 PCC Pavement, 49,943.7 SY of 6 PCC shared use path, 120 SY of 8 PCC shared use path, 1783.3 Tons of Class E Revetment Stone, trail signage, traffic control, erosion control, surface restoration, and other miscellaneous work. Additionally, two alternate bids must be filled in. The First alternate consists of the partial removal of a twin-cell reinforced concrete culvert box and the installation of 94 CY of structural concrete and 12,518 lbs of reinforcing steel in a new cast-in-place twin parallel wing wall and an associated 250 Tons of Class E Revetment Stone and an additional800 CY of Class 13 Excavation and Waste. The second alternate consists of 6 panels of decorative fence, in place of a chain link fence. Work on the improvements shall commence any time after a written Notice to Proceed is issued, no later than July 1, 2024, and shall be completed as stated below. The Notice to Proceed for Site 1 will be issued after the preconstruction conference, which is expected to occur in April 2024. The Notice to Proceed for Site 2 will be issued after receipt of the required project permits, which is expected to occur in July 2024. The Contractor shall substantially complete the overall project by Friday, December 20, 2024. For this project, substantial completion for the overall project shall be defined as all utility, grading, backfill, topsoil, finish grading, pavement markings, and trail work completed with the streets, field crossings, and trails fully open to traffic. Should the Contractor fail to substantially complete the work within this timeframe, liquidated damages of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per calendar day will be assessed for the work not completed within the designated Contract term(s). Each biddershall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the Jurisdiction, for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. The bidder's security shall be in the amount fixed in the Instruction to Bidders and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents with corporate surety satisfactory to the Jurisdiction. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Est. Value- $ 4,274,810.00 Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by Story County Board of Supervisors and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the Story County Board of Supervisors from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of two years from and after acceptance of the contract. The guaranteed maintenance period for new paving shall be four years. The Story County Board of Supervisors reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The Story County Board of Supervisors reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period of sixty (60) calendar days after receipt of bids and no bid may be withdrawn during this period.
