The work under this project consists of replacing two existing Siemens soft-starters with OWNER-supplied variable frequency drives (VFD) for High Service Pumps (HSP) 5 & 6 at the East Water Treatment Plant (EWTP) as per the supplied engineering drawing and technical specifications. Remove existing HSP 5 & 6 Reduced Voltage Soft Start panels in the existing electrical room and install new VFDs in their place. Install new power and control cables from the HSP pumps 5 & 6 to the new VFDs. Existing conduits will be utilized for routing power and control cables from HSP 5 & 6 motors to the new VFDs. Some modifications may be required. Perform system commissioning, and testing, and provide operation manual. Perform the Backwash yard piping modification as described in the East Water Treatment Plant HSP 5 & 6 Improvements Engineering Design drawings and technical specifications. Disconnect the 18" backwash supply connection from the 24" discharge pipe of HSP 1, 2, 3, and 4 by cutting it under the effluent pipe for HSP 5 & 6 and install a restrained plug. Connect the 18" backwash supply pipe to the 30" HSP 5 & 6 discharge pipe. Two isolation valves will be installed in the lines. Grout the abandoned section of 18" backwash supply pipe after rerouting the effluent piping from pumps 1 through 4.
