This project generally consists of Safety Area Improvements for Runway 1 at Greenville Downtown Airport. The project Base Bid involves all demolition, grading, drainage, paving, retaining wall and installation of Owner-supplied Engineered Materials Arresting System (EMAS) for Runway 1 threshold. The EMAS materials will be supplied by the Airport for installation by the Contractor. Work includes approximately 45,000 cubic yards of earthwork, construction of permanent dry detention basin, 405 linear feet of variable height mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall, storm drainage pipe and structures, construction of 4,365 square yards of asphalt pavement (including base). Contract security in the form of 100% Performance and Payment Bonds will be required. The Project (Base Bid) is to be completed within a maximum of 330 consecutive calendar days from the commencement date specified in the written Notice to Proceed. Substantial Completion for all work shall be achieved within a maximum of 300 consecutive calendar days from the commencement data specified in the written Notice to Proceed. The project will be constructed in multiple phases, some of which will require night work within the runway safety area. The contract time also includes a 60-day wait period for embankment settlement which coincides with typical winter shutdown months.
