Renovation of an educational facility in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

The procedure for withdrawal of bids shall be according to Chapter 43, Title 11, Section 2.2-4330 (i) of the Code of Virginia, 1950 as amended. The General contract is to be awarded on a lump sum basis and includes all work as defined in the Contract Documents. This project entails the comprehensive removal of the existing SAPC ceiling assembly, including Ceiling Tiles, Grid and Supports complete. Additionally, the removal of all existing ceiling-mounted HVAC grilles and diffusers followed by the installation of new grilles and diffusers as specified on the drawings. It is essential to note that all sprinkler heads will also require remediation as part of the project scope. This remediation includes the realignment of the existing sprinkler heads within finished ceiling (GWB/Plastered and SAPC types) and subsequent patching the existing GWB and Plastered ceilings in areas as indicated on the drawings. In the Base Bid In the base bid, the areas of work are categorized as A, B, B1, and C. Specifically, Area A involves the removal and replacement of only the GWB hard ceilings where Sprinkler heads require remediation, whereas all other areas (B, B1, and C) require the removal and replacement of both the SAPC ceiling assembly and associated HVAC components. In these areas the remediation of the sprinkler system is necessary, including realignment of sprinkler heads with the finished ceiling (GWB/Plastered and SAPC types) and subsequent patching of the existing GWB and Plastered ceiling assembly. (405 sprinkler heads) Additionally, there are three bid alternates identified: Bid Alternate 1 (Area D): Work is similar to what is required in the Base bid. (145 sprinkler heads) Bid Alternate 2 (Area E): Work is similar to what is required in the Base bid. (132 sprinkler heads) Bid Alternate 3 (Area F): Work is similar to what is required in the Base bid. (100 sprinkler heads) It is imperative to note that for any temporarily removed ceiling-mounted devices, proper disconnection, storage, and subsequent reinstallation with thorough verification of working conditions are required. Damaged fixtures or devices must be replaced at the contractor's expense with equipment matching the existing specifications. B. Base Bid work shall be completed in Summer 1. Any accepted Alternate Bid work shall be assumed to be completed Summer 2, at the option of the Contractor and in agreement with the Owner, Alt Bid work may be completed in Summer 1. Notice to proceed for Summer 1 physical construction shall start on June 15, 2024 and end on or before August 24, 2024 (10 days past SC). Substantial Completion for the work shall be on or before August 14, 2024 (61) days. Notice to proceed for Summer 2 physical construction shall start on June 15, 2025 and end on or before August 24, 2025 (10 days past SC). Substantial Completion for the work shall be on or before August 14, 2025 (61) days. C. Any outstanding work including any punch list correction work remaining after August 14, 2024 shall be performed after 3:30 pm and prior to 10:00 pm on Mondays through Thursdays, and between 3:30 pm Friday and 6:00 pm Sunday for weekends. Weekend work requires 48 hours advance notice for VBCPS to provide access. D. See Section 015000 "Temporary Facilities and Controls" for limitations and procedures governing temporary use of Owner's facilities Bid Security: A bidder's bond or certified check will be required in the amount of not less than five percent of the Base Bid. The bid bond shall be executed on AIA Document A310, or in the same form, and for a period of not less than 60 days after the bid opening date. Bond or check shall be payable to the School Board of the City of Virginia Beach. The Owner reserves the right to waive informalities and to reject any or all bids. Unless canceled or rejected, a responsive bid from the lowest responsible bidder shall be accepted as submitted, except that if the bid from the lowest responsible bidder exceeds available funds, the Owner may negotiate with the apparent low bidder to obtain a contract price within available funds, as authorized by Section 2.2-4318 of the Code of Virginia. Bidders' attention is invited to the requirements of Title 54.1, Chapter 11, of the Code of Virginia pertaining to Registration. The school grounds will be open for inspection daily, prior to bid inspection date, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Contractors must sign in and obtain a visitor pass prior to any interior or exterior building or site review. The School Board of the City of Virginia Beach does not discriminate against faith-based organizations.
