The San Diego Unified School District ("District") is soliciting statements of qualifications and proposals from qualified firms and persons to provide hazardous materials testing services in connection with construction and major repair and modernization projects at various active K-12 school and child development center sites. Primarily, the services will support the Facilities Planning and Construction Division's bond programs. District capital improvements are funded by General Obligation bond measures-Propositions S and Z, and Measures YY and U. The District currently has approximately 121,000 students attending classes at 216 educational facilities comprised of K-12 District and charter schools, making it the second largest school district in California and one of the largest urban school districts in the United States. The District intends to award multiple as-needed contracts each with a term of up to five (5) years. These contracts may comprise multiple projects and will be authorized by individual task order. Projects that these services will support range in scope from minor repair and renovation to building replacement and new construction. Services may include, but not be limited to; environmental and laboratory services for asbestos containing materials and lead based paint for school sites as needed throughout the District. Proposals from small businesses, minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, and disabled veteran-owned businesses are encouraged. The District actively encourages the diversity of qualified professionals on the project team and encourages firms to demonstrate employment diversity by exerting assertive efforts to improve the employment of small business enterprises in their workforce. The District also seeks to promote employment and business opportunities for local residents and firms on all contracts as such opportunities may occur and to the extent legally possible. Interested responders are encouraged to solicit applications for sub-consultants from qualified residents and firms located within District boundaries.
