**As of April 18, 2024, the project was awarded to Sargent Irrigation and Well Drilling in the amount of $797,210.** Site Address: 223 Union St., Westfield, IA Site Directions: Take highway IA-12 towards Westfield, Iowa, turn onto Union St., travel approximately 500 feet before arriving at the project location on the north side of Union St. The Project includes the following Work: 1. Remove and stockpile playground equipment as needed for well construction. 2. Construct new well and perform all required testing. 3. Install pitless adapter and raw water main piping and appurtenances. 4. Restore site to original conditions with positive drainage within 15 feet of the wellhead. 5. Install electrical items. 6. Reinstall playground equipment following well construction completion. 7. All other work shown on Drawings or called for in Specifications. Work on the improvement shall commence within 30 days after the Effective Date of the Contract, or on the day indicated in the Notice to Proceed. The Notice to Proceed will be issued upon approval of the contract and bonds by the City Council. The work shall be substantially completed on or before October 15, 2024, and ready for final payment in accordance with Paragraph 15.06 of the General Conditions on or before December 15, 2024. Failure to meet either the Substantial Completion dates or Final Completion date will result in liquidated damages of $500.00 per calendar day. Each bid shall be accompanied by bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, and in the amount of 10% of the total amount of the bid, as specified in the Bidding Documents, as security that if awarded a contract, the bidder will enter into a contract at the prices bid and furnish the required performance and payment bonds and Certificate of Insurance. Each successful Bidder will be required to furnish Performance and Payment Bonds acceptable to the Owner on forms provided in the specifications in amounts equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. The Owner hereby reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities and irregularities, and to enter into such contract or contracts as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
