Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Detroit, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field; for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; water / sewer project; and water / sewer project.
History of project: As part of a previous project, multiple different types of heating systems were investigated over the past several years for the aquarium. The DNR has decided to implement a closed loop water source heat pump system for the aquarium. The DNR has decided to implement a bioretention pond system for the stormwater management system for the aquarium. The previous project was placed on hold (due to funding issues) at the completion of the Phase 400 35% stage. Now restarted, the project is beyond the allowable funding for continuation of the current PSC ISID funding allotment per State procurement limits. Estimated construction budget: HVAC Replacement System - $6 million. Stormwater Management System - $2 million. Provide PSC services: Phases 400 / 500 / 600 / and 700. Allowances for geotechnical / soil investigations shall be included. Note: A Construction Manager (CM) will be secured separately by the State of Michigan to complete the construction portion of the project. Several other construction projects on Belle Isle will also be completed by the same CM at the same time. Construction timeframe is anticipated between September 2024 and September 2026. Actual length of construction activities unknown. Phase 600 and 700 will be completed in concert with the CM. Additionally, the existing life support system (for the aquatic tanks) will be replaced by a separate entity hired by the State. Some coordination may be necessary by the PSC. Additionally, the existing generator is assumed to be adequately sized for the new equipment. Some coordination may be necessary by the PSC to tie-in to the existing generator. Existing Documents / Information: Existing 35% completed Phase 400 drawings (HVAC and Stormwater Management) will be provided to the awarded PSC firm Please do not submit online questions via VSS. ALL questions should be emailed to Scott DeKorte at dekortes@michigan.gov address no later than 2:00 p.m., Eastern on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
