Renovation of an educational facility in Kapaa, Hawaii. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Furnish materials, labor, and equipment necessary to replace the existing carpet in 6 portable classrooms with new vinyl composition tiles. 1. Packing and Moving: a. The contractor shall provide 75 boxes total for packing of items in the classrooms. Box shall be 15"Lx12"Wx10"H, #64 freight classification. b. The school shall be responsible for packing all items in the classroom, marking the boxes and moving of all computers and other electronic equipment. c. The contractor shall be responsible for moving all furniture and boxes to the designated storage area, and then back into the proper classrooms at the completion of the job. 2. Removal of Carpet and Cove Base: a. The contractor shall properly remove and dispose of all existing vinyl/ rubber cove base. b. The contractor shall properly remove and dispose of existing carpet either down to the subfloor or to the existing vinyl composition tile under the carpet. c. All construction debris must be properly disposed of offsite. In no case shall the contractor be allowed to use the school's dumpsters for construction debris. 3. New Flooring and Cove Base: a. Contractor shall be responsible for all floor prep work necessary to achieve an acceptable surface to receive new flooring and base. b. New vinyl composition tile shall be one of the following or an approved equal: i. Armstrong Commercial Standard Excelon Vinyl Composition Tile Imperial Texture 1/8 in color Cottage Tan c. New vinyl/rubber cove base shall be 4" high and manufactured by one of the following or be an approved equal: i. Burke in color 502 Brown d. New vinyl composition tile and vinyl/ rubber cove base shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and requirements. All adhesives used must be approved for use by the vinyl composition tile and/or cove base manufacturer, for use with their product. e. The school will be allowed to select the tile and base colors from a set of samples provided by the contractor. 4. Floor Waxing: a. The new floor tiles shall receive one coat of sealer and four coats of wax. Sealer and wax shall be the same product used by the school's custodial staff. b. Contractor shall allow the wax to cure 24 hours before final buffing with a high speed buffing machine and moving furniture and boxes back in. 5. Clean Up and Disposal: a. The contractor shall be responsible for all clean up and disposal of all debris and trash from the project. This job is tentatively scheduled to be completed from June 1, 2024 to July 12, 2024. Project is tentatively scheduled to commence upon award of contract and must be completed by July 12, 2024. To be eligible to submit a bid, the bidder must possess a valid State of Hawaii contractor's license classification B or C-21.
