Renovation of a mixed-use development in Bristol, Rhode Island. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
A. The project is a historic restoration and gut renovation to the Walley School. The building will be converted into Community Resource and Senior Center run by the Town of Bristol. The site will be updated to include handicap parking, a bus drop off, seating areas, and new landscaping. An existing rear entry will be enclosed to create a new elevator vestibule. All mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection will be new. The two interior stairs will be restored, in-kind in keeping with the historic nature of the building. Interior trim and other elements will be reused or replicated. B. This project is assisted by a State Preservation Grant from the Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission (RIHPHC). The property possesses architectural and historical significance recognized by RIHPHC. All work must be done in conformance with The Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and all work performed will be subject to review and approval of a representative of the RIHPHC.
