Description of Work Name: Broadway Vault Masonry Walls along Broadway Ave. from Benton St. to New York St. in Downtown Aurora, IL Scope of Services: As part of the upcoming reconstruction of Broadway Avenue (IL-25) in Downtown Aurora, the City plans to infill the remaining under-sidewalk utility vaults between Benton and New York Streets. Prior to infilling, the City is requesting pricing to construct approximately 5,200 SF of masonry walls below the front face of the buildings in thirty-four (34) of these vaults. Bidder Instructions. The Awarding Authority reserves the right to waive technicalities and to reject any or all proposals as provided in Standard Provisions for Bidding Requirements and Conditions for Contract Proposals contained in the "Supplemental Specifications and Recurring Special Provisions". Any bidder who owes the City money may be disqualified at the City's discretion. The City encourages minority business firms to submit proposals and encourages the successful contract bidder to utilize minority businesses as subcontractors for supplies, equipment, services, and construction. Submission of a bid shall be conclusive assurance and warranty the bidder has examined the plans and understands all requirements for the performance of work. The bidder will be responsible for all errors in the proposal resulting from failure or neglect to conduct an in depth examination. The Awarding Authority will, in no case be responsible for any costs, expenses, losses or changes in anticipated profits resulting from such failure or neglect of the bidder. The City of Aurora has a local preference ordinance that would apply to this contract.
