Lump sum Work if requested may be situated in any of the SFU Burnaby, Surrey or Vancouver campuses.
Qualified Mechanical Contractors will be required to work in compliance with all applicable laws, trade regulations and SFU policies, as may be amended from time to time, as well as terms of applicable Work Orders. Qualified Mechanical Contractors will be required to be available on short notice for priority repairs and be able to respond within 2 hours for emergency repairs. (2 hour duration from receipt of phone call to arrival on site.)
Mechanical and plumbing scopes of work may, but not be limited to replacement, repair, new construction, maintenance, testing, preventative maintenance, demolition, and inspection of:
Heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, humidification, and refrigeration systems including fans, ducting, distribution systems, pumps, humidifiers, air handlers, etc
Terminal devices including hydronic coils and radiation systems, air distribution systems, Variable
Air Volume (VAV) devices Boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air conditioning units, VRF units, heat pumps, heat exchangers, etc.
Campus district energy system, TSBC Class A contracting License required
Plumbing fixtures (i.e. drinking fountains, toilets, sinks, floor drains, showers, etc.)
Drainage and venting systems for storm and sanitary (ie drainage and vent piping, oil/grease
interceptors, sump pumps)
Hydronic based heating and chilled water systems and sub-systems (ie expansion tanks, side stream filtration, glycol systems)
Potable water systems (i.e. storage tanks, backflow prevention, etc.)
Fire protection systems (i.e. wet and dry sprinklers, fire pumps, etc.)
Compressed air and natural gas distribution systems and accessories
High purity distilled water distribution systems
Refrigerant piping systems
Fuel oil systems. 1. Commercial general liability insurance (including products and completed operations coverage) having a limit of not less than:
(a) $2,000,000 per occurrence for Work Orders valued up to and including $75,000; and
(b) $5,000,000 per occurrence for Work Orders valued above $75,000. The selected Proponent(s) are to be included on SFU's list of Qualified Mechanical Contractors for a period of one (1) year, with an option in favour of SFU to extend the term for inclusion on the list for an additional two (2) one (1) year terms. The Work Order set out at Appendix "F" and the Terms and Conditions set out at Appendix "A" of this RFSQ will apply to any work awarded to selected Proponents during the subsequent terms on which they may be included on SFU's list of Qualified Mechanical Contractors. See Appendix "C" Rate Bid Form for the process by which Rates may be adjusted for any subsequent terms that a Proponent is selected by SFU to remain on the list of Qualified Mechanical Contractors. agreement on the same terms and conditions for additional two (2) terms of up to one (1) year each term.
SFU anticipates the following time periods for the term(s) for the Qualified Mechanical Contractors it intends to select during this RFSQ process to apply:
Year 1: August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025
Optional Year 2: August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026
Optional Year 3: August 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027 Official bid documents must be obtained from www.merx.com and bid submissions must be done through the Merx platform.
