The City of Marshalltown is requesting sealed bids from qualified contractors to provide chipping, loading, transporting, and disposing of wood material from the City's compost facility. The city accepts leaves, grass clippings, vegetative debris, wood chips, branches, and tree trunks from the public. The city also processes some of it into compost. Where possible, we try to sort into grass/leaves pile, compost pile, brush pile, chipped mulch, and large log piles. We believe we have more material on-site than what we have a budget to have disposed of. The city plans to contract with a single Contractor to provide approximately $58,000 of material disposal. In order to submit a bid, please read and agree to all requirements listed in the request. Submittal of a bid shall indicate the Contractor's acceptance of all items listed in the bid; bid may be submitted with original hard copy or digital copy (in PDF format) to the address provided at end of this notice. Upon selection and approval by City Council at the March 25th Council Meeting, the Contractor shall provide the required proof of insurance within 7 days. The Contractor will be given the Notice to Proceed within 2 days of receiving the signed contract and required insurance. The Contractor shall complete their work within 60 calendar days of their notice to proceed. Failure to complete the work in the required timeframe will result in a deduct of $200 / calendar day in compensation due in lieu of liquidated damages.
