Work consists of removing the existing feed-up slot system to include the locking mechanism, hinges and welds. Providing and installing new cell door food pass slot system to include new keys, fasteners, hinges, hardware & associated components of equal, or better capacity and performance characteristics then the existing system. Units are located in the segregation units at the Chesapeake Detention Center. It will be the responsibility of the contractor to verify the exact location of the units and the modifications necessary to fit new system properly in the available space for a fully functional system without any additional costs to the Owner. The work will also include providing or modifying existing door hardware configurations in which to provide a base for the installation of the new food pass system. The following bonds are required if the Contract Amount, including Unit Prices, Allowances and Alternates as applicable, is in excess of $100,000.00. 1) Bid Bond in the amount of 5% 2) Payment and Performance Bonds in the amount of 100% The Project Cost Classification for this solicitation is: Small Procurement Category III, under $200,000. If the work is not completed within the time period specified, the contractor will be liable for liquated damages of $ 250 per calendar day as specified in the "General Conditions. It is strongly recommended that the Contractor visit the job site and familiarize himself/herself with the conditions under which the work shall be performed.
