Reference Number 0000345000 Professional Services for Planning and Designing for the Development of a New Municipal Police and Fire Public Public Safety Complex The City of Newport's Fire Department Headquarters, presently located at 21 West Marlborough Street. The station was built in 1931 and has exceeded its useful life operating as a modern fire department and is in need of replacement. The existing headquarters station is the northern most of the three fire stations. The station currently houses 6 trucks and administrative offices for the Fire Chief, Fire Marshall and 4-person team, 88 Firefighters, the Deputy Chief Training Officer and Emergency Medical Services Officer, and the Department's Executive Administrative Assistant. The City of Newport's Police Department is located at 120 Broadway and was built in 1985. The police department has outgrown the current building space needed for increasing administrative, technology and evidence storage needs. The City would like to identify the current and future needs of the police and fire departments and to consider the consolidation of duplicate operations and facility needs into a single public safety complex.
