Renovation of a mixed-use development in Johnston, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a swimming pool; and educational facility.
The Summit Middle School, Swimming Pool HVAC Upgrades Project consists of a Two-Phase Project with Phase-1 being completed the Spring/Summer of 2024, which entails modifying the existing Natatorium ductwork and installing new ductwork. Also constructing new masonry half-wall and duct chase and an owner supplied Solid Plastic Evacuation Bench / Duct. The existing pool water will be left in the pool during this project. Phase-2 would be completed Spring/Summer of 2025, which entails removing (2) existing HVAC Pool Air Handlers from the pool mechanical mezzanine, through existing mechanical openings in the existing roof and patching those roof openings when all the existing equipment is removed. Install new galvanized steel roof framing / supports on roof just east of pool mechanical room for installation of (1) new large HVAC air handling / condensing unit and reconnect all the existing ductwork, water piping, electrical wiring to the new HVAC unit with new ductwork, wiring and piping. Also install one extruded aluminum visual screen wall and galvanized steel roof support. After completing all work on existing roof, remove existing ballasted loose laid EPDM roof system and install a new fully adhered EPDM Roof system around new rooftop unit and screen wall.
