Renovation of an educational facility in Norfolk, Nebraska. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The work consists of: 1. Complete renovation of two downtown buildings adjacent to each other located on Norfolk Ave, in downtown Norfolk, NE. Renovation is for a new workforce innovation studio fabrication lab including robotics, prototyping, and wood and metal shops. The combined area of both buildings is approximately 17,825 S.F. Buildings are primarily wood roof structure and multi-wythe masonry walls. Renovation includes extensive demolition including removal of roof, roof structure, and interior concrete slab on grade at Building 707 (East), along with removal at both buildings of existing doors, windows, wall infills at masonry openings, and all remaining interior finishes down to wood and masonry building structures to remain. New construction includes steel roof joists, steel interior columns, steel lintels, interior CMU walls, concrete footings, and concrete slab on grade. Roof replacement to be monoslope rubber EPDM roofing system with metal gutters and downspouts. Finishes include aluminum storefront, cast stone veneer, hollow metal doors and frame, wood doors, interior metal studs, drywall and cement board, carpet tile, porcelain tile, LVT, acoustic ceiling tiles, architectural casework and plumbing fixtures. A new 2000A 120/208V electrical service will be designed for the building. Dedicated electrical panels serve each lab / shop space with 2 house panels located across the building. New LED lighting will be designed throughout the building with a networked lighting control system. A new fire alarm system will be designed for the building. Select areas of the building will receive audio visual installations: two signage location in the lobbies, mobile cart, remote displays in the clean rooms, building wide paging system, and a Level 1 classroom installation. Electrical pathways will be provided for low voltage and security installations to be completed by NECC vendors. A new fire service entrance shall be brought to the building, and the water service shall be replaced. The existing sanitary connection to the city sewer shall be reused. New double grade cleanouts shall be installed. The existing HVAC and plumbing system shall be demolished. New plumbing fixtures and piping shall be provided to serve the new layout. A new water heater and water softener shall be provided. The new HVAC system shall consist four RTUs; two shall be single zone variable volume; the other two shall be variable volume with duct static pressure reset. These systems will utilize VAV with electric reheat. There are approximately 13 VAV boxes in the project. The data room shall be served by a dedicated ductless mini-split system with an air cooled condenser located on the roof. Specialized / shop systems will include: cabinet air filters hung in the space; a dust collection system for wood shop area; fume extraction system for the welding booths; exhaust systems for the laser cutters; and an air compressor system for the shop areas.
