The project is not scheduled to advertise until Fall (Sept/Oct/Nov) of 2024. ** USDA Forest Service Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Salt Lake County Legal Notice of Opportunity to Comment on Proposed Action Upper Mill Creek Canyon Road Improvement Project The public is invited to comment on the proposed action and Environmental Assessment (EA) for a proposal to maintain and improve 4.8 miles of Upper Mill Creek Canyon Road in Mill Creek Canyon on the Salt Lake Ranger District, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The Federal Highways Administration(FHWA) is the lead agency and prepared a EA on the proposed project which includes analysis of Forest Service decision areas. The Forest Service is a cooperating agency. Forest Service decisions on the Proposed Action include: terminating the existing 1991 Forest Road and Trail Act (FRTA) easement and authoring a new adjusted FRTA easement, authorizing construction activities that would occur outside of the easement, and to improve trails, trailheads, picnic areas, and parking areas in the upper portion of Mill Creek Canyon . The project notice and comment period on the EA are being held concurrently How to Comment This project, which implements the 2003 Land and Resource Management Plan, Wasatch-Cache Planning Area, as amended, is subject to the objection regulations found at 36 Code of Federal Regulations 218, subparts A and B. The 30-day comment period on the EA represents an opportunity for the public to provide specific written comments on the project and therefore have standing to object.
