Renovation of a medical facility in Los Angeles, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.

renovation project will be between $1.1 to $1.3 million *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select an Executive Architect for two separate proposed laboratory renovation projects with similar scopes of work. Both existing lab spaces are located on the 5th floor of the Center for Health Sciences (CHS) complex. CHS 53-317 (Project #907093.01) is located in the School of Medicine West building and CHS 53-129 (Project #907094.01) is located in the School of Medicine East building. The CHS complex is located at the southern edge of the UCLA Campus at 10833 Le Conte Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90095. Renovations for these two independent projects will include both building and program improvements. Building upgrades may include, but not limited to, reconfiguring research spaces, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety work, and ADA-triggered scope. Programmatic enhancements to support laboratory workflow and circulation will also be developed as part of the pre-design study. The final selection and appointment of the Executive Architect is contingent upon project approval by the University of California Board of Regents or their delegated authority. This RFQ is for complete design services; however, the University reserves the right to defer negotiations for services other than pre-design studies until the completion of the pre-design phase. Research in the CHS 53-317 lab shall include conducting live imaging of neurons in anesthetized mice or cultured mice neurons and recording neuronal electric activities using electrophysiology. Experiments shall also include typical molecular biology and biochemistry work (PCR, cloning, immunostaining). The CHS 53-129 lab shall focus on Protein Biochemistry (intricate behavior of proteins within cells) and Patch Clamp Electrophysiology (recording the electrical signals cells use to communicate). Currently, the existing facilities are inadequate for these proposed specialized uses, and the need for current technology and research resources has expanded beyond the facilities' ability to support them. Customization and renovations to the existing facilities are necessary to support current and future research requirements. Project Scope: The Department of Physiology, David Geffen School of Medicine proposes two existing lab renovations on the 5th level of CHS as follows: CHS 53-317 (Project #907093.01) comprises Rooms 53-317, 53-317A, 317B, and 53-337, within the School of Medicine West building, consisting of approximately 1,078 square feet of existing BSL-2 Lab, offices and a storage room. The renovated space's primary use is proposed to be wet lab research space. CHS 53-129 (Project #907094.01) comprises rooms 53-129 and 53-151 and a small portion of 53- 129A, within the School of Medicine East building, consisting of approximately 1,100 square feet of existing BSL-2 Labs. The renovated space's primary use shall remain as a BSL-2 Lab specializing in Protein Biochemistry and Patch Clamp Electrophysiology. The scope of work for both renovation projects shall include, but not be limited to, a comprehensive reconfiguration of the existing space, including general demolition to accommodate a new layout of partitions, finishes, lab furniture, and potentially lab equipment. The project scope shall also include an enhanced evaluation of existing lab equipment, HVAC, and laboratory gas installations. The proposed project timeline for each renovation project are independent, however, both projects may run concurrently, starting and completing at approximately the same time depending on the agreed upon scope of work and the availability of funding
