This funding considers costs associated with the implementation of components identified in the Denbigh-Warwick Area Plan. Funding will provide new community outreach and engagement opportunities, create opportunities for enhanced placemaking and recreation in the Denbigh-Warwick and Lee Hall area, reinforcing the City's commitment to redevelopment of these areas. This includes funding supporting the development of the Sherwood and former K-mart sites, including planning, infrastructure, and business relocation support. This funding request includes continuance of the voluntary property acquisition utilized to strategically purchase properties along the Warwick Corridor and Lee Hall areas in order to reduce blight along one of the City's major business corridors and promote parcel assemblage in support of new commercial investment. Other objectives include aesthetic infrastructure upgrades (landscape, streetscape, enhanced neighborhood entrances, traffic control, utilities, etc.) along the corridor from Menchville Road to Fort Eustis Boulevard. The project is included in the city's 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of September 19, 2024, a design team has been identified. Construction is expected to begin in FY2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
