Reference Number 0000345733 The project includes surveying, designing, and obtaining clearances for the construction of 5' sidewalks, ADA/PROWAG-compliant curb ramps, radar feed-back signs, crosswalks, and signage additions in the general area of Mesa Elementary School and the Montezuma-Cortez Middle School within the Cortez City limits. unsatisfactory or non-existent sidewalks to be replaced or installed. Sidewalks that are identified as satisfactory will be left as-is. Crosswalk improvements include the relocation of two existing crosswalks in front of Mesa Elementary School. The crosswalk at 3rd Street and South Broadway (Hwy 160/491 South) will get improved signage and potentially a pedestrian refuge island. The crosswalk at 7th Street and South Broadway will get a pedestrian refuge island and improved signage. Additional crosswalks on the Cedar/4th and Cedar/5th intersections will be considered pending further design. The Consultant will need to fulfill the requirements outlined in the 2021 CDOT Pedestrian Crossing Installation Guide to provide justification for crosswalk installation/treatment on the State Highway system. Signage additions will be considered with the intent to increase alertness of drivers traveling near the school. Additional traffic calming measures (e.g. bump-outs, raised pedestrian crosswalks) will also be considered within the scope of work.
