Work to be performed under this contract is as follows: This Contract provides for the improvement of City of Des Moines Redondo Fishing Pier and Restroom Replacement. Work includes removing existing fishing pier and existing restroom structure, disposal of existing creosote treated timber, removing concrete curb and sidewalk, removing asphalt concrete pavement, roadway excavation, installing drainage structures, sanitary sewer connections, water service, electrical service, HMA Paving, slurry seal, landscaping, pavement markings, restroom and concessions building, illumination system, traffic control, cement concrete sidewalk, cement concrete curb and gutter, cement concrete pedestrian curb, boat wash facilities, trash receptacles, pedestrian guardrail, Parking lot payment system, new fishing pier and stairs to the beach, and other work. The project is divided into two schedules of work that are included in the Proposal: 1. Schedule A includes work east of Redondo Beach Drive South, restroom concession building and associated civil construction. 2. Schedule B includes work west of Redondo Beach Drive South, removal of existing fishing pier and restroom, construction of replacement fishing pier and associated civil work. The Work is to be performed within the number of working days indicated on the bid proposal from the date of Notice to Proceed issued by the Owner and consists of furnishing all materials, equipment, tools, labor, and other work or items incidental thereto for all of the work necessary to complete the Surface Water Capital Improvements as shown on the drawings and as required for a complete and operating facility as specified in the contract documents. Bidders are not to contact the City of Des Moines or the Engineer to obtain Bid Documents. Question received after March 29, 2024 will not be responded to prior to Bid Opening. All bid proposals shall be accompanied by a bid proposal deposit in cash, certified check, cashier's check, postal money order, or bid bond made payable to the City of Des Moines in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of such bid proposal. Bid bonds shall be in a form satisfactory to the City Attorney. Should the successful bidder fail to enter into such contract and furnish satisfactorily the bond within the time stated in the specifications, the bid proposal deposit will be forfeited to the City of Des Moines. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities in the bidding and to make the award as deemed to be in the best interest of the City. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The Engineer's estimated costs for the work is a range of $4,000,000 to $5,000,000.
