Renovation of an educational facility in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Prequalification of B - General Building Contractor and C-10 Electrical Subcontractor License B - General Contractor License C-10 - Electrical Estimated Construction Cost: $400,000 - $700,000 Tenant improvements of existing market space for implementation of Amazon "Just Walk Out" store technology. Improvements include demolition, electrical, plumbing, new market shelving and displays, installation of turnstile entry/exit gates, ceiling Unistrut to support Amazon cameras, Amazon MDF rack with mechanical support, and lighting improvements. The estimated construction duration is: Two (2) months. The University seeks General Building Contractor to serve as Prime Contractor with demonstrated experience in tenant improvements, food service facility, and educational/market facility. Specific experience requirements: experience in structural steel framing, phased construction of underground utilities adjacent to existing underground utilities, and re-routing/upgrades to existing MEP infrastructure that serves additional areas. The Prime Contractor shall have demonstrated an average annual business revenue of at least $3,000,000 over the last five (5) consecutive years. The Prime Contractor must have demonstrated experience on their best three (3) comparable projects with the Contractor providing services as Prime Contractor within the last ten (10) years. Projects should have possessed the following construction challenges: urban site work with limited construction and staging areas, repair/renovation/expansion requiring pro-active and innovative solutions to noise, pedestrian, unknown and unforeseen conditions project complexity requiring multiple functions, phases, critical path scheduling, and complex phasing plan development and execution. The University is also concurrently seeking Electrical Subcontractor for the same scope of work as described above. The Electrical subcontractorshall have demonstrated experience in infrastructure improvement in a large operational campus. Specific experience requirements include: simultaneously working alongside a second party's Low Voltage contractor, and tight tolerance parameters regarding installation of lighting and receptacles. The Electrical subcontractor shall have demonstrated an average annual business revenue of at least $1,000,000 over the last five (5) consecutive years. The subcontractor must have demonstrated experience on their best three (3) comparable projects with the Contractor providing services as Electrical contractor within the last ten (10) years. Projects should have possessed the following construction challenges: work within an educational/market facility with limited staging area, work within an operational facility, renovations/ improvements to existing space within a tight schedule. Prequalification Submission: Each prospective Contractor must submit electronically one (1) complete prequalification questionnaire in PDF format. However, the University reserves the right to request, receive, and evaluate supplemental information after the above time and date at its sole determination. All information submitted for prequalification evaluation will be considered official information acquired in confidence, and the University will maintain its confidentiality to the extent permitted by law. Response to the Prequalification Questionnaire must be submitted on the forms contained within the Prequalification Questionnaire available at the address above. The University reserves the right to reject any or all responses to Prequalification Questionnaires and any or all bids and to waive non-material irregularities in any response or proposal received. All information requested in these forms must be provided in order to be considered "responsive" to the requirements of the prequalification. The awarded contractor shall make best efforts to provide qualified SBEs and DVBEs with the maximum opportunity to participate. Potential bidders will be required to submit their small business outreach plan to the University as part of the prequalification process. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $15 per hour) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
