Aluminum Pipe with Aluminum Structural Plate Headwalls - Fabrication and delivery to Route 630 in Appomattox County, Virginia.The culvert shall be designed for HL-93 loading in accordance with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification, 8th Edition, 2017; Interim Specifications and VDOT Modifications. All design calculations (including all applicable code checks) shall be according to Load and Resistance Factor Design. Aluminum Structural Plate Headwall Requirements: 1. Aluminum structural plate headwalls shall conform to the latest requirements of AASHTO M219 or ASTM B746 with a minimum thickness of 0.200". 2. Headwalls may incorporate the full variety of shapes and sizes available in corrugated metal pipe and structural plate culverts (pipe, arch pipe, arch, box culvert, et al). Additionally, headwalls may be equipped with wingwalls of the same design and material. All headwalls shall be designed by a duly licensed and registered Virginia Professional Engineer who will provide VDOT with sealed drawings and calculations. 3. Manufacturer's representative, with at least two years of experience in the installation of this type of structure, is required to give on-site technical advice with the assembly and installation of structure and headwalls through completion of the installation. Manufacturer's representative is not to be considered a contractor and VDOT will not be liable for any labor he/she may provide. 4. A culvert stub shall be integral with the headwall by means of a full periphery weld on both the interior and exterior of their junction. The headwall is properly placed at the design elevation by ensuring the stub is placed at grade for the culvert crossing. Period Of Contract: From Date Of Award Through 30 Days. Culvert Design Requirements: The culvert shall be designed for HL-93 loading in accordance with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification, 8th Edition, 2017; Interim Specifications and VDOT Modifications.
