This project shall generally include design, permitting, and construction of various sanitary sewer improvements including replacement and abandonment of select gravity sewer pipes and manholes to reduce inflow and infiltration, replacement of Pump Station Nos. 1 and 4 with new duplex submersible systems, replacement of Pump Station No. 2 with new duplex two-stage suction lift system, replacement of four sanitary sewer force mains, and associated electrical, structural, and HVAC improvements. Pipe replacement shall be completed through open trench and trenchless (pipe bursting and horizontal directional drilling) methods. Work will also include replacement of an existing stream culvert to address ongoing erosion concerns. It is understood that if the work is not completed within the time above specified or such extension thereof, as shall be granted in accordance with the General Conditions, the Contractor shall pay the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as liquidated damages and not as a penalty for non-completion of work, the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per day for each and every calendar day thereafter until the work shall be completed and accepted.
