The Work under this Project for Interior Renovation of Berkeley Middle School consists of demolition and removal of some existing casework, removal and replacement of carpeting, and painting of some walls and door/window frames. The painting also includes the painting of interior concrete masonry unit wall assemblies and gypsum board assemblies, as noted in the Contract Plan/Drawings and Specifications and any other work required as specified in the Contract Documents, shown on the Drawings, or otherwise required to complete the work of this contract in accordance with the Contract Plan/Drawings and Specifications. The panels below the classroom door assembly windows are assumed to contain asbestos. These panels should not be sanded, abraded, or otherwise disturbed during the project. Preparation of these panels for painting should be performed by non-abrasive cleaning (i.e., wiping). Power tools should not be used. Work shall commence following the execution of the contract and Notice-to-Proceed. On site construction can begin on June 17, 2024, with Substantial Completion on or before August 16, 2024, and Final Completion of the Work on or before September 20, 2024. Bid Security in the amount of Five percent (5%) of the Bid shall be submitted with each Bid. Performance and Payment bonds for one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract will be required by the Owner prior to Contract Award. The cost of bonds is to be included with the bid price. The Owner reserves the right to waive minor non-substantive informalities in the Bid.
