Site work, paving and renovation of a mixed-use development in Brandon, Manitoba. Completed plans call for the renovation of a medical facility; for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
As authorized of Jason Herzog of TMO/Shared Health Manitoba, Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, a Division of Wood Canada Limited, predecessor to Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions Canada Limited (Wood), undertook a geotechnical investigation for a proposed Expansion of the Brandon Regional Health Centre in Brandon, Manitoba. The scope of work for the geotechnical investigation was provided in Wood's proposal WPG2022.002_REV01, dated 24 January 2022. The purpose of the investigation was to determine the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions at the Site and provide recommendations for the design and construction of foundations, floor slabs, sidewalks and pavements for the proposed facility. The site of the proposed expansion is located within a city block between Russell and Dennis Streets, and Victoria and McTavish Avenues in Brandon, Manitoba. At the time of the investigation, most of the site consisted of a paved parking lot. Ground surface cover consisted of asphalt pavement and grass, in areas where snow had been cleared for access to the test hole locations. Overland drainage was visually inferred towards the edges of the site, and to catch basins in the parking lot. Adjacent land use consisted of the Brandon Regional Health Centre building to the south, across McTavish Ave.; and mixed residential and business developments to the west, north and east. Based on the information provided by Stantec, the structural engineering agent, the proposed addition will be located at the northwest corner of McTavish Avenue and Russell Street, and will cross McTavish Avenue. The proposed building will have up to four storeys, with a structural framing system presumed to consist of a combination of load-bearing concrete and concrete masonry units, steel structure, a steel joist framing system and a concrete perimeter foundation wall. A 3.0 m deep crawlspace will be constructed below the main floor slab in the area to the north of McTavish Ave., while the portion of the addition crossing to the south of McTavish Ave. and connecting to the existing facility will have a basement 6.5 m below grade. Each Bid Submission must include security in the form of a Bid Bond in the amount of not less than 10% of the total Base Bid Price. The Owner in its sole discretion may reject or accept all or any part of a Bid, including any or all of the Bids submitted under this Bid call; and the Owner is under no obligation whatsoever to accept the lowest or any Bid submitted.
