Acoustical ceilings 1. Repair damaged components of suspended acoustical ceiling system. Replace damaged cross tees and main runners which cannot be repaired. For estimating purposes, allow for replacement of 1 main runner and 6 cross tees per classroom. 2. Many rooms have 12 x 12 acoustical tiles on the walls that extend above the ceiling. Demolition contractor will cut the tiles at the ceiling line for removal. This contractor is to install new 20 ga x .25 x 1.5 break metal to conceal the cut-off portion of the acoustical tile from view, with the short (.25) leg tucked behind the cut-off tile and the long leg pop-riveted to the existing edge angle. Prepare a mock up for the Owners review prior to continuing installation. 3. Rooms 103 & 104 are noted as having plastic wall paneling to be removed. These panels may have been mounted over ½ – 5/8 fiber or tackboard. If the plastic panels have been attached over board, install break metal at ceiling as Item 2 above. 4. Provide R-30 batt insulation installed on top of acoustical ceiling tiles. 5. Provide extra stock as specified. 6. Provide all layout required for work of this Bid Number, and layout of demolition of existing work to accommodate work of this Bid Number. This contractor is responsible for coordination of installation of work of this contract with all contract documents including but not limited to Architectural, Structural and Civil Drawings.
