Clarification deadline 4/11/2024 5:00 pm The Town is seeking a qualified and competent contractor to help mitigate potential trip hazards on municipal pedestrian sidewalks. The Town of Wallingford intends to engage the services of a qualified and competent contractor to help mitigate potential trip hazards on municipal pedestrian sidewalks. The hazards shall be removed by horizontally cutting the raised concrete panel to achieve a zero-height differential. The work shall conform to applicable ADA standards including the taper and the resultant surface coefficient of friction and the Technical Specifications described herein. The work shall be performed at the locations specified by the Department of Engineering and encompasses all public sidewalks within the Town of Wallingford. The Engineering Department will attempt to keep the assigned locations in close proximity to encourage efficiency by the contractor to the extent possible. The horizontal sidewalk cutting must be satisfactorily completed within fourteen (14) calendar days after the contractor has been notified by the Department of Engineering. The Contractor will mobilize to the selected locations for each assignment. The Contractor is solely responsible for all costs associated with mobilization, re-mobilization and relocation of forces and equipment. The qualified and competent contractor will possess the necessary equipment and manpower to effectively and efficiently perform all required assignments under this contract. The contractor will need to demonstrate a successful history of completion on other horizontal concrete sidewalk cutting projects and assignments. GEN. STAT. 4a-60g, as amended. (25% of the work with DAS certified Small and Minority owned businesses and 25% of that work with DAS certified Minority, Women and/or Disabled owned businesses.) The contractor must demonstrate good faith effort to meet the 25% set-aside goals.
