Renovation of a museum in Charlevoix, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a museum.

This project is for roof removal and replacement at the historic Charlevoix Train Depot, located at 305 Chicago Avenue in Charlevoix, Michigan, which is owned by the Charlevoix Historical Society ("Owner"). The current roof was installed in 2000. The Charlevoix Historical Society is entered into a cooperative arrangement with the City of Charlevoix ("City"), which received a Certified Local Government (CLG) from the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) to partially fund the project. The Owner has designated the City as the administrative agent to act as fiduciary for the grant. The Train Depot is a historically designated property listed on the State Register of Historic Sites and National Register of Historic Places. This project is partially funded by a Certified Local Government (CLG) grant from the Michigan State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). This project is subject to a grant agreement between the State of Michigan and the City of Charlevoix. All parties have the responsibility to review the terms of the grant agreement and assure compliance with all applicable state and federal requirements. Any proposed changes to the scope of work must be approved by the City, the Owner and the SHPO prior to proceeding. All work performed must be consistent with the U.S. Secretary of Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings (Revised 1990) (the "Standards") and with the Department of Interior's Preservation Briefs. Roof Replacement: The Project Work shall include replacing the existing asphalt shingle roof with a new asphalt shingle roof. More specifically, the Project Work shall include: o Tear off the existing roof and dispose of materials o Installation of new drip edge on all rakes and eaves o Installation of 6 ft. ice and water shield on all eaves and one row at each roof break, one row up each valley, and under all sidewall flashings o Installation of titanium or synthetic felt underlayment to the remaining area of the roof deck o Re-flashing of soil pipes, bathroom vents, side walls and chimneys o Installation of color-clad metal valleys o Installation of dark green, dimensional Certainteed Landmark Pro AR shingles o Installation of ridge vent and ridge cap o Remove and reinstall existing historic decorative flashing ridge Question Deadline 04/05/2024 at 5:00 PM ET The primary contact for the City of Charlevoix project team is Lindsey Dotson, City of Charlevoix DDA Executive Director, lindseyd@charlevoixmi.gov, and for the Charlevoix Historical Society Denise Fate, denise@chxhistory.com.
