The purpose of this market sounding process is to ascertain the range of market capacity, capability, readiness, and the level of interest to provide a solution or solutions to a proposed set of requirements and/or desired outcomes using innovative procurement approaches. The intent is to engage industry and foster dialogue to better understand the market and for potential suppliers to understand the need. Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC), on behalf of St. Marys General Hospital (SMGH), is using this approach to encourage suppliers to participate in an open dialogue, with a view to incorporating the perspectives and insights of responsive suppliers, into the planning stages of a follow-up procurement process. Currently SMGH is performing 3,500+ cath/procedures/year in two existing cath labs, and utilization levels exceed many/most of Ontario's regional cardiac centres. Both cath labs are currently running 10-12 hours/day to sustain the schedule procedures as well as the 24/7 call for STEMI program. With a growing population and demand to service, there is a need to increase the Cath Lab capacity by adding a third Cath Lab and updating the equipment in Cath Labs 1 & 2. SMGH's objective with a follow-up procurement process is to partner with one key supplier that (on their own or as a lead) has the capability and capacity to deliver on the requirements and desired outcomes in an innovative way.
