Site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Miami, Kansas. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
Miami County is seeking written proposals from firms KDOT pre-qualified to provide survey and design services for the Bridge 3.5-Q.1 replacement project located on 379th Street 0.2 mile east of Somerset Road. Built in 1907 with an ADT of 21, the current structure is a structurally deficient and fracture critical 121 ft Thru-Truss Bridge that will be replaced by a 180-to-200-foot single span girder structure with road work and gradation also needed. The current structure was temporarily closed by Miami County Road and Bridge on June 27, 2023, due to a complete fracture of a vertical member near the top chord of the north truss found during a fracture critical bridge inspection. This is a bridge replacement project with funding from Miami County Special Bridge Funds, and will also be submitted for KDOT Off-System Bridge Funding.
