The Town of Nantucket (hereinafter "TOWN"), through its Department of Public Works, invites qualified bidders to submit bids for the repair of the front fence and gate at the Nantucket Landfill located at 188 Madaket Road, Nantucket MA, 02554. The TOWN is also requesting bids for the installation/repair of the security perimeter fencing and gates surrounding the Nantucket Landfill. The work in this invitation for bid for the security perimeter fencing and gates are divided into sections and will be bid as alternates and will only be contracted if the TOWN has sufficient funds available for the additional work that it would include. The Town of Nantucket is located 30 miles off the south coast of Cape Cod. It was settled in 1659 and incorporated in 1671. The Town has an annual year-round population of over 14,000 and approximately 60,000 seasonal residents. The island is 14 miles in length and 3 1/2 miles wide. The Town of Nantucket is within the County of Nantucket. It operates an operated skilled nursing facility, an extensive Public School System and other municipal operations. The Town functions under a Town Manager/Select Board form of government. The Select Board operates under a Charter and enacts policies intended to promote and enhance the general welfare of the Town. The Department of Public Works will be clearing the perimeter fencing area by cutting the brush at needed location. The successful bidder shall coordinate with The Department of Public Works Deputy Director of Operations for additional brush clearing in order to accomplish the repair and replacement of the front fence and gate at the landfill. 1. Repair, installation, and replacement of approximately 60 feet of existing chain-link fence, including posts, top rails, and bottom tension wire. Specifications for the replacement chain-link fence are as follows: Fencing: Height: 6 feet Material: Galvanized chain-link Fabric: 9-gauge wire with a 3-inch mesh opening Top Rail: 1 5/8-inch diameter, Galvanized 2.
