Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Chardon, Ohio. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

The purpose of these specifications is to provide clarity on the scope of work for various repairs to Geauga County parking lots. Contractors are required to work around the operating schedule of the buildings to complete the work. All areas are to be barricaded at the time of any work (patchwork, sealcoating, or line-striping.) Contractors must also furnish all labor, tools, supervision, equipment, services and supplies necessary to perform the work in the manner specified and in conformity with the requirements listed below. The contractor is to comply with all Federal, State, and Local regulations, including but not limited to OSHA, EEO, and ADA.The successful bidder is required to furnish a bond for the faithful performance of the contract in a sum of not less than One Hundred percent (100%) of the total bid price for the complete work, said bond to be that of an approved surety company authorized to transact business in the State of Ohio meeting the requirements. I. PATCHWORK The contractor is to properly prepare all substrates for application of patching materials. Surfaces must be clean and free from all loose material and dirt. Removal of grass along the edges of the pavement may be necessary to find the true edge of the pavement. Leaf blowers, mechanical sweeping devices, and push brooms are considered as acceptable cleaning methods. Any grass, dirt, or debris must be properly discarded off-site. The contractor is to wipe, scrape, or clean off any residual oil or grease buildups or gasoline spots. A torch may be used to remove residual material. The contractor is to mill the perimeter of the area being filled to ensure adhesion of asphalt. SEALCOATING The contractor is to follow all manufacturer's instructions when applying sealcoat. The contractor is to provide all necessary labor, tools, materials, and equipment to apply one layer of sealcoat. Polymer- Modified Master seal asphalt and blacktop sealant, or an approved equal, mixed with aggregate is to be used for these projects. Spray equipment must be capable of mixing and spraying pavement sealer with sand added. Self-propelled squeegees, hand squeegees and brushes are acceptable in locations where spraying is not possible. LINE-STRIPING/TRAFFIC MARKING Any patchwork or sealcoating will be allowed to cure for a minimum of 24 hours prior to painting. The contractor is to apply Seal Master Traffic Paint (or an approved equal) with pressurized line-striping spray equipment at a wet thickness of 15 to 20 wet mils. Colors and layout will match existing markings unless required otherwise by applicable codes or ordinances Each bid must be accompanied by a bid bond or guaranty in the amount of 100% of the total amount bid, or a certified check, cashier's check, or money order in an amount not less than 5% of the total amount bid. The bid bond or guaranty must be submitted as a guarantee that if the bid is accepted, a contract will be entered into and its performance properly secured. The Geauga County Commissioners reserve the right to waive any informalities and to reject any or all bids received or any part thereof
