Renovation of a residential development in Rock Island, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a residential development.
This project has several items needing addressed. The first thing is to tuckpoint the existing chimney. Remove loose mortar between the bricks. Reset any loose bricks in a matching mortar. Contractor will need to take measurements of the existing concrete cap for a new galvanized cover. This must fit over the concrete and have a turned-up collar that will go up the sides of the flue. This should also have metal sides turn down covering the concrete caps edge. Fasten the new metal cap to the brick with tapcons in the four corners to prevent winds from blowing off the cap. Install silicone caulk over the tapcons preventing water infiltration. The bend up around the flue should be a tight and be caulk preventing water from running between the existing flue and new metal. Install a metal rain cap/spark arrestor over the existing flue. The lowest bid shall not automatically guarantee that a contractor will get the work they bid on. Bids shall be reviewed for pricing, experience, previous work history, references, State Licenses, State Registration, insurances, bonds, subcontractors, equipment owned, equipment rented, operator experience, and financial stability. The City at its sole discretion shall decide after a review which contractor, if any, is responsive to the invitation to bid. All bidding and award procedures undertaken by the City in regard to this project shall be consistent with the City's adopted procurement procedures. Submitted bid prices shall remain valid for 60 days after bid opening. Each bid must be submitted on paper and delivered in a sealed envelope. Said envelope shall be clearly labeled with Enclosed: " 1019 15th Avenue" The bid must clearly address all requirements as described above. The cost of the work must be separated into line items with individual costs in addition to providing a total project cost. Labor costs and material costs must be clearly delineated. The company name, federal tax ID number, Duns number, contact person, email, phone number, and a date with signature are all required as well. All questions shall be directed to the Construction Officer at 309-732-2906. The City of Rock Island is requesting bids from contractors for a rehabilitation project at a house located at 1019 15 th Avenue. This owner-occupied property will be undergoing rehabilitation using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to ameliorate deteriorating and deteriorated conditions. All work shall be subject to HUD 35.930 and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
