As of December 11th, 2024 construction work on the Portage Bay Bridge project began in early November of 2024. A groundbreaking ceremony took place in August of 2024. A general contractor has been confirmed. Construction work is estimated to be completed at some point in 2031. The project will replace the existing Portage Bay Bridge to ensure it is better protected from seismic activity.
