The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department (PRCR) is requesting competitive quotes for landscaping and site improvements at Laurel Hills Community Center, 3808 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh, NC 27612. Selected landscaping contractor to provide all soil amendments, mulch, sod, plants, and other materials necessary to complete the installation. Questions due by April 11, 2024 @ 5:00PM CITY OF RALEIGH'S RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS: Friday, April 12, 2024 Project / Address: Laurel Hills Community Center Landscaping 3808 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh, NC 27612. Work includes fine grading, soil amendment, planting bed preparation and sod at the front of Laurel Hills Community Center. 1. Prepare grounds for sod and plantings by incorporating "flower bed mix" soil into previously tilled area. Area total 7500 SQFT. o Soil preparation expectations: Existing mulch to be removed. Existing vegetation to be sprayed out. The entire area should be preliminarily tilled. Add 6 inches of flower bed mix top-dressed, and then re-tilled into both turf and planted area. Soil mix to be a Flower Bed Mix Type of 50% Probase, 35% Coarse Sand, and 15% Compost. 2. Provide and install 3000 SQFT of Zoysia "Emerald" sod in front of building from the plant bed to the sidewalk. 3. Install two inches of hardwood mulch in the planting beds as shown on the drawing provided. 4500 SQFT bed area. 4. Provide and install plantings listed below. o (5) Magnolia Virginiana Sweetbay Magnolia -- #15 Container o (5) Metasequoia glyptostroboides 'Ogon' -- 7 gallon o (1) Prunus x 'Snowgoose' -- 25 gallon o (25) Viburnum obovatum 'Raulston's Hardy' -- 7 gallon o (25) Itea Virginica 'Henry's Garnet' Sweetspire -- #3 container o (25) Myrica 'Suwannee Elf' -- 5 gallon o (25) Hydrangea quercifolia 'Alice' -- #3 container 5. Attached drawing for reference of project intention. The drawing is not to scale. Owner will provide locations of edge lines of plant beds not to exceed 4500 SQFT. Owner will flag plant locations. All plant bed edge designations and plant locations provided by Owner will be coordinated with the Contractor in a timely fashion so as not to impact the Contractor's schedule in a negative manner. 6. Add Alternate: Please provide pricing for 3000 SQFT Zoysia "Emerald" sod and bed preparation in rear of building. The area for installation will be clearly marked by the Owner prior to the commencement of the work. The City's goal is to contract and sub-contract fifteen percent (15%) of the total contract amount to Certified MWBEs on construction projects of $300,000 or more, or contracts of $100,000 or more that include any State funding. No Bid may be withdrawn for Forty-Five (45) days after opening time. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
