The scope of service for this subsoil exploration was limited to 1. Advancing five (5) borings to a depth of 15 feet below existing surface grades, obtaining soil samples during drilling. 2. Performing laboratory tests to aid in classifying the soils and estimating their engineering properties; and 3. Analyzing results of laboratory testing to determine site and foundation-related recommendations, regarding: a. Description of site soil conditions and significance of area geology. b. Tabulation of test data, a boring location plan and soil boring logs. c. Street subgrade and site preparation recommendations to provide stable and suitable pavement support. d. Recommendations for ground improvement if inadequate subgrade stability exists. e. Recommendations for utility and pavement placement. f. Frost depth requirements and recommended depths below grade. g. Analysis of soil to ascertain presence of potentially expansive soils or otherwise deleterious materials and recommendations to mitigate detrimental effects from these materials, should they be found. h. Recommended types of soil fill and backfill materials and compaction requirements. i. Active, passive, and at-rest lateral earth pressures for use in design of lateral earth-supporting footings to support wind and other lateral forces. j. Remedial site subsoil repair action below pavement subgrade in the case that weak or otherwise unsuitable soils are found, if necessary. k. Design parameters for pavements. l. Pavement thickness recommendation. m. Anticipation of, management of, and recommendations for drainage of surface water and groundwater. n. Seismic design parameters required by building code, and o. Potential for consolidation and recommendations to control potential settlement of pavements. Water Main Extension District No. 128, (Norfolk 140) This project consists of: Furnishing and installing approximately 2,250 LF of 10" DIP water main; 270 LF of 6"DIP water main; and all the necessary appurtenances; traffic control, erosion control, seeding, mulching. All work called for in the plans and specifications shall be furnished in strict accordance with the plans and specifications prepared by the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department of the City of Norfolk, and bids will be received only upon the forms furnished by the City. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid bond or certified check on a bank whose deposits are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in the amount of 5% of the total bid price and must be payable without condition to the Treasurer, City of Norfolk, Nebraska, as evidence of good faith of the bidder and as agreed liquidated damages in case the bidder whose proposal is accepted by the City of Norfolk fails to enter into contract within ten (10) days from the Notice of the Award or fails to furnish acceptable bond to complete the work and pay for all labor and materials used, said bond to be in the amount of 100% of the total bid price. The bid security (i.e. bid bond or certified check) as outlined in Articles and III of these specifications shall be submitted in a separate envelope along with the proposal. The bid security shall be clearly marked and accessible without needing to open the envelope containing the proposal. Any proposal that does not have bid security as outlined above will not be accepted and is subject to rejection. The City of Norfolk, Nebraska, reserves the right to waive informalities and to reject any or all bids.
