The City of Nashville proposes to construct needed improvements to its water and sewer systems in conjunction with street resurfacing and improvements in a low to moderate income residential Target Area. The Target Area includes portions of Old N. Coffee Road, N. Mathis Street, and E. Beetree Avenue. More specifically the work of this contract includes, but is not limited to, the following: DIVISION 1: Rehabilitation of approximately 2,200 LF of existing 8-inch VCP gravity sewer mains using cured-in place pipe (CIPP), cleaning and lining associated manholes, reestablishment of existing service laterals and related appurtenances DIVISION 2: Partial demolition and abandonment in place of existing 6-inch asbestos cement, and cast iron water mains; and construction of approximately 2,700 LF of new 6-inch PVC water mains with associated valves, fittings, fire hydrants, services, and related appurtenances DIVISION 3: Asphalt milling and resurfacing of streets within the Target Area described above totaling approximately 7,450 SY. Bids must be accompanied by a bid bond or certified cashier's check in an amount not less than 5% of the base bid. Performance and Payment Bonds, each in an amount equal to 100% of the contract amount, shall be required of the successful bidder, if contract is awarded. All bonds shall be by a surety licensed in the State of Georgia with an "A" minimum rating of performance and a financial strength of at least five (5) times the contract price. Each bond shall be accompanied by a "Power of Attorney" authorizing the attorney-in-fact to bind the surety and certified to include the date of the bond. The bid bond shall be forfeited to the City of Nashville as liquidated damages if successful bidder fails to execute a Contract and provide Performance and Payment bonds within ten (10) days after being notified of contract award. Bidders are encouraged to examine the site of the work and to inform themselves fully as to the conditions present at the site. All work must be completed within 180 consecutive calendar days from receipt of written Notice to Proceed. The City of Nashville, Georgia reserves the right to reject any or all bids including without limitation, the rights to reject any or all nonconforming, nonresponsive, unbalanced or conditional Bids; and to make an award in the best interest of the City of Nashville.
