This Request for Documented Quotations (DQ) is issued by the State of Colorado, acting by and through the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS). Enclosed is a brief description and bid schedule for the Stairway to Nowhere Project. The Stairway to Nowhere Project includes safeguarding nine (9) hazardous coal mine openings; six (6) sinkholes, one (1) adit and two (2) maintenance features. These are abandoned mine entries or subsidence hazards related to coal mining from the late 1890s into the early 1950s. The sites have good access from county and private roads. The closure methods will include backfills, a native rock bulkhead and a polyurethane foam closure.
