The purpose of this project is the rehabilitation of Paleo Well 2, the installation of two (2) new submersible pump provided by the City, well and pump performance testing, and the purchase of one (1) new submersible pump and one (1) check valve. Paleo Well 2 is located on Scenic Drive, north of the Paleo Water Treatment Plant in Salisbury, Maryland. 2. GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK A. The Scope of Work encompasses the requirements for the rehabilitation of Paleo Well 2. Specific rehabilitation procedures and well information is described in this section. Additional details are provided in Attachment 2. B. The well completion logs and other relevant well performance data available for Paleo Well 2 are provided in Attachment 1. In August 2010, the bottom section of screen from 175 to 195 feet below grade was grouted to prevent inflows from the deeper aquifer containing elevated iron concentrations. The exposed 16-inch diameter screen interval was reduced to 115 to 175 feet below grade.SYSTEM INSPECTION A. The condition of existing equipment shall be evaluated prior to commencing work. The operation and condition of all valves, water level sensors, and electrical equipment located in the Paleo Well 2 vault shall be tested and evaluated. The pump and piping inspection shall include a performance evaluation of each pump during the specific capacity testing, including monitoring pump discharge pressures and motor load currents for comparison with pump design curves. 4. PRE-REHABILITATION WELL TESTING A. A one-hour specific capacity test will be conducted prior to well rehabilitation and shall be performed by the CONTRACTOR. The testing will be conducted at an expected pumping rate of 1,300 gallons per minute (GPM). Test procedures and guidelines are described in Item 8 and Section IV.
