Renovation of a municipal facility in Coral Harbour, Nunavut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
This project will replace and upgrade all the existing relays and associated auxiliary devices connected to two (02) Generators – Genset 2 and Genset 3 respectively, four (04) feeders; two town feeders, one station feeder, and one airport feeder. The main project objectives are design, labor, material, equipment, and services required for upgrading protection and DC system. The overview of work requirement includes the following, which are fully detailed in the attached scope of work: Design and installation of upgradation of station PLC system and protection and control system. Supply, transportation, and delivery (FOB Coral Harbour power plant). Demolition and removal of the existing wires, cables, DC batteries, relays, and equipment. Construction and preparation for installation of upgradation of PLC system and protection and control system, and DC batteries, and battery chargers. Project management, commissioning, and testing. Upgradation of protection and control system of Genset 2 and Genset 3, and station PLC is required to increase the reliability of the system and quality of power in the community of Coral Harbour. Moreover, further delay may impact overall system protection and may cause tripping and undesired outages. The plant will have the GE Multilin latest version relays which are more reliable and flexible in operation due to multiple functions. QEC is aiming to standardize all system including the protection. This project will bring consistency in functionality of plant operation.
