MnDOT requests letters of interest for preliminary and final water resource design, plan preparation, and permit acquisition for an existing stormwater retention pond, Beaver Pond that has existing maintenance issues. Beaver Pond is located at the northwest quadrant of Interstate 494 and MN 13 in the City of Eagan. It is the last feature in a large drainage area, that receives runoff from highway facilities and parts of the cities of Eagan and Mendota Heights, prior to discharging to the Minnesota Valley United State Fish and Wildlife Services (USFWS) Refuge wetland complex and Gun Club Lake. The pond's outlet control structure is in disrepair and does not maintain the designed normal water level. This results in an overuse of the pond's emergency overflow spillway which has led to erosion and an increased potential for berm failure. Project Goal The goal of this project is to redesign the Beaver Pond outlet control structure and emergency overflow spillway so that Beaver Pond can operate as it was originally designed to. Additionally, the project will dredge Beaver Pond, that has overtime filled with sediment, to restore its volume to its original capacity.
