The Village of Bald Head Island, N.C. is requesting sealed bids from qualified contractors for the removal and the replacement of an existing sand filled tube groin field. More specifically, the project consists of the replacement of thirteen (13) sand filled geotextile tubes (provided by Owner) buried within the beach berm along the southwest ocean shoreline at Bald Head Island, North Carolina and all work attendant to and including the excavation and removal of the thirteen (13) existing damaged structures. The groin lengths vary between 230 ft. and 300 ft. The timing of all, or portions of the work, may be affected by a 1.0 million cubic yard beach renourishment project to be constructed by the Village in advance of, or during this Contract. The first potential period of groin removal and installation operations shall be from 15 February 2025 to 30 April 2025 - unless beach renourishment is initiated at an earlier date. Work may not proceed until a portion of a beach fill is completed within the limits of the groinfield and any groin to be replaced is completely buried. Due to Permit terms, any work uncompleted under this Contract must resume after 15 November 2025. There will not be a pre-bid conference but site inspection is encouraged by all bidders. Note - access to the island is by ferry.
