Scope of Work The scope of geotechnical investigation includes the following: Pre-mobilization coordination for the approval to conduct test borings; Drilling and sampling thirty test borings of 15- to 40-ft depth; Performing laboratory tests on the recovered soil samples; Installation, development, and water level measurements of four piezometers; and, Development of geotechnical engineering recommendations. Geotechnical engineering recommendations developed as part of the study includes the following: Generalized assessment of soil and groundwater conditions; Soil shrink and swell potential for lightly loaded foundations; Soil corrosion and concrete attack potential; Summary of the laboratory test results in tabular format; Engineering analysis for open-cut, HDD, and J & B pipeline installation methods; Trench Safety Letter: OHSA guidelines for temporary shallow excavation (i.e., within 10-ft depth); Lateral earth pressure guidelines for Trench Shields as an alternate to open cut excavation; Global slope stability assessment of 10-ft deep trench planned in between the existing detention pond adjacent to Walmart Super Center No. 3297; Lateral earth pressure recommendations for entry and exit shaft construction applicable for deep vertical excavations (10- to 30-ft depth) restrained by sheet piles or pre-fabricated trench box; Groundwater control and uplift potential along the basin of the deep excavation; and, Foundation recommendations for the metering stations planned within four water plants.
