Renovation of a power facility in Kitchener, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a power facility.
The Owner, Enova Power Corp (EPC), plans to replace its No 1 air insulated switchgear lineup at its Kitchener #3 Transformer Station (3TS), one of its existing transformer stations on the south-central portion of the City of Kitchener. The existing breakers are deemed end of life to the owner and the switchgear needs to be updated for arc proofing. The scope of work included is the design, manufacturing, factory testing, delivery, certified installation whether through supervision or its agents, and guarantee of approximately fourteen (14) cells of single-bus or three-phase encapsulated gas insulated switchgear which will initially be operated at 14.2kV and can be upgraded with minimal component changes to operate at 28.4kV. The Kitchener 3TS is a major point of delivery of power to the east side of the EPC service territory. The station is designed such that one half of the DESN station can be de-energized at a time, however, a full station outage cannot be tolerated. For this reason, the new GIS switchgear will need to be installed in phases, one bus at a time (main to tie breaker including associated feeders).
