Qualified construction firms who provide construction management (CM) services are invited to submit PRE-QUALIFICATION information for an upcoming procurement process for CM services for Phase 1 of the Kitchener Central transit hub (Region of Waterloo project scope only) project with an option of the Region utilizing the same firm to supply CM services for Phase 2 of the Kitchener Central transit hub. The successful Bidder (in the RFT process) will be part of a team formed by the Region and consultant(s) for the implementation of the project. CM services for Phase 1 of Kitchener Central transit hub are expected to commence in late summer 2024 with substantial completion December 2028. Phase 2 is pending funding approval. The Region of Waterloo has been working with Metrolinx and the Ministry of Transportation to deliver the first Phase of the transit hub development. The total construction cost for Phase 1 and Phase 2 is estimated to be approximately $33 million and $130 million respectively. Aspects of the project include but are not limited to, Phase 1: - construction of a pedestrian bridge across King St.; - construction of a connecting ramp to Metrolinx's platform to on-grade bus loop; - fit-up of mechanical and electrical rooms; - fit-up of bus shelters and bike storage areas; - Construction of a bus loop and associated pathways; - Construction of a Parking/pick-up and drop-off area; - Construction of all associated signage and wayfinding; - Preservation of a designated heritage building; and, - Development of associated landscaping components. Phase 2: - Construction of the Kitchener Central transit hall; - Expansion of bus loop; - Connection of one underpass to the transit hall; - Development of associated landscaping components to create a Public Square and Transit plaza.
