The County of Monroe is accepting proposals for the asphalt paving work at the following County properties: 1. Emergency Management Facility parking lot, 987 South Raisinville Road, Monroe, MI 48161. New asphalt course on existing asphalt. 2. South County Magistrate Office parking lot & drive, 12777 South Telegraph Road, Erie, MI 48133. New asphalt course on existing asphalt. 3. Fairview County Home parking areas and drives, 3580 South Custer Road (M-50), Monroe, MI 48161. New asphalt course on existing asphalt. 4. Monroe County Youth Center, parking lots and drive, 3600 South Custer (M-50), Monroe, MI 48161. New asphalt course on existing asphalt. Includes areas marked. 4.A Additionally, prices are requested for asphalt paving at adjoining facility access drives and main parking area as an Add Alternate. 5. Nike County Park extend the main park drive further into the park and build a basketball court, 488 Newport Rd, Newport, MI 48166. The asphalt for the drive extension will be new and there is not an existing asphalt surface. Base preparation will be required. This will also be required for the basketball court as it will be new to the stie. A sketch of each site is enclosed as part of this Request for Proposal. Please confirm all dimensions in the field prior to submitting a proposal. The sites are readily accessible for you to gain access to the work area any time during normal workday hours including weekends. Contractors are to review the enclosed documents during the preparation of proposals and include the noted requirements in the proposal pricing. Proposals shall be prepared and submitted that explain in sufficient narrative text and detail the work proposed and the method to complete the work. The detail shall also explain the quantity and type of materials and the schedule to complete the work. The County has outlined in the project scope the general specifications of the work, however, the contractor will have the responsibility to specify exactly what is proposed and note any deviations to what the County has requested. The work is to be coordinated with the County as to schedule, staging/storing of equipment, machinery, materials and access to the sites. Advance notice to the County of the work is required to allow for continued operations at the parks. The work may be completed during the week or weekends depending on the site. In the Scope of Work we note what possibility exists for weekday or weekend scheduled work. There is ample opportunity to close a portion of Nike Park during the days when the work to complete the preparation and paving takes place if no events or use has been scheduled by park users. The entry would be open and the Contractor would be required to set up sufficient barricades to protect the work and for safety of park users. Scope of Work for Monroe County Asphalt Paving Projects The enclosed diagrams are representative of the areas that are to be priced for new asphalt surfacing. indicating the areas to be included in the project at each location. These diagrams represent where the existing asphalt is to be capped/resurfaced with a wearing course and where new asphalt will be installed over existing stone base. You must verify the dimensions of existing asphalt to be capped and the new asphalt locations in the field specifically at Nike Park. This project is for the installation of an asphalt wearing course on top of the existing asphalt surface for the parking lots and drive areas. A general description of this work includes: a. General site preparation for the work, b. Identify and make minor repairs as needed including wedging or filling any potholes in the areas, c. Cut back edges of the asphalt where asphalt butts up against yard area, d. Mill the existing surface at butts to concrete curbing, around drain structures and any other similar locations where the new surface bevels into adjoining surfaces e. placement and compaction of new 1.5" asphalt wearing course unless otherwise specified f. New striping of the lot and drives with marking paint after the new asphalt has been installed and can accept the paint markings.
