Appalachian State University is seeking design services for structural repairs to the steam tunnel under River Street on Appstate's campus which is known as the Justice Tunnel. Approximately 15 feet of existing tunnel is expected to be removed and replaced. While the tunnel is being repaired, the exposed steam and condensate piping is to be replaced. This project will also include structural shoring of four additional steam vaults on Appstate's campus. The project will be administered as a General Administration formal project. Additional project requirements will be given to the teams that are short listed and/or selected. Shortlist Firms June 4, 2024 Interviews Conducted June 18, 2024 Design Start July 16, 2024 Design Completion January 2025 Bidding and Award February 2025 Construction Start March, 2025 Construction Completion September, 2025 In order to offer commissioning services in response to this solicitation, the proposer must be licensed in the State of North Carolina. Interested firms can participate in the process by submitting a current SF330 form, addressing the following in a written proposal. 1. Experience and expertise with similar projects, including but not limited to public utilities, water line, and sewer line installation 2. Past performance on similar projects. Provide brief narrative indicating relevance to proposed project. 3. Experience with traffic planning and control 4. Experience with university or municipal utility projects. 5. Adequate staff and proposed team who have similar project experience. 6. Current workload and State projects awarded. 7. Owner representative capabilities 8. Record of successfully completed projects without major legal or technical problems 9.
