You are invited to bid on the remediation of healthy homes repair work for a home located at 636 3rd St SE, Mason City, IA 50401. This work is being financed with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). The primary goal ofthe Cerro Gordo County Healthy Homes Repair Program (HHRP) is to reduce health and safety hazards in housing for low-income families 62 years of age or older, person with disabilities or with children five years of age and under. Repair the mortarjoints in the foundation on the NE corner of the house.
Remove the existing gutters and replace with new gutters, downspouts and 5' extensions.
. Replace the front entry door with a new pre-hung steel entry door with a narrow light window. Insulate around the door and install new casing on the interior. Wrap the exterior trim with aluminum coil stock and install a new
storm door. Install a new deadbolt and doorknob on the entry door.
. Wrap the back door frame with aluminum coil stock to protect it from the weather. Hang the sliding screen door back in the track and ensure that it opens and closes freely.
. Remove and dispose of all of the existing wood ramp & material. Build an new pressure treated ramp leading from the front door to the driveway and ensure it has proper footings. Install wood handrails on both sides and sand the top rail to protect hands from slivers. Install traction strips on the ramp to
prevent slipping when wet.
. Replace all 4 basement windows with new vinyl Energy Star rated basement windows. Windows should either be hopper style or sliding windows. Wrap exterior trim with aluminum coil stock an apply caulking for a watertight seal.
Remove the existing metal railing in the dining room to the basement stairs.
Install new newel posts, railings and balusters that are at least 42" high. Make
sure that the posts are firmly attached into structure. Stain and finish the
wood railing to match the wood color in the dining room.
. Remove the existing bathroom door and install a new pre-hung wood interior door. Homeowner to choose color of the door. Install new casing on both sides and install a privacy doorknob on the door.
. Have a plumber replace the water heater with a new one of similar size and style. Make sure the discharge tube is no more than 6" off the floor.
. Replace the dryer vent pipe with a new pipe that is straight and apply foil tape to all the joints.
. Install one 10-year lithium battery operated combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector in the living room and one in the basement.
